One of the most successful real estate entrepreneurs ever appeared at the Real Estate Staging Association for the final keynote address. While it was a pleasure listening to the story of how she grew her business, it was also fascinating to listen to overall information she had on entrepreneurship. It’s a topic that is near and dear to our hearts since we own our company.
Barbara Corcoran on entrepreneurship
Another speaker, Katie Lance from the Huffington Post, wrote a blog about Barbara’s speech at RESA. In it she listed the five primary points that Barbara addressed.
- You have the right to be here.
- There is no such thing as balance.
- Complainers are like people reaching into your pocket stealing your money.
- There is nothing like the charm of a third-party endorsement and the power of the press quoting you as an expert.
- Perception creates reality.
After the convention Barbara also sat down with the President of RESA, Shell Brodnax, and gave advice to our industry.
Barbara Corcoran on home staging
Barbara believes that the internet is what gave rise to the home staging industry and as professionals we need to band together to continue the growth. “[home staging] used to be an extra, now it’s just an essential” and “a real estate broker who is not advising their clients to stage is not very smart” may have been my two favorite quotes from the interview.
